 Detailed Itinerary:

DAY 1 & 2: USA – BUDAPEST
Once aboard our flight, we can relax, read, or watch the in-flight movie and enjoy complimentary meals and beverage service. Upon arriving we will be transferred to our hotel. The Danube divides the city of Budapest into two sections – Buda and Pest. For decades, the sections were distinct entities, joining to form Budapest in 1872. Among the most beautiful cities in Europe, Budapest graces the banks of the Danube for nearly 8 miles. This evening we will board our ship and begin our cruising adventure. (In-flight,D)

DAY 3: ESZTERGOM – BRATISLAVA

Today you may choose to experience an optional tour to the picturesque landscape of the Danube Bend, where the river changes its course southward, in Esztergom, the former residence of the Hungarian kings, you can visit the Cathedral, the largest church in Hungary, with its immense cupola, the tomb and the treasury. You will then have the opportunity to stroll around the marvelous old town. (B,L,D)

DAY 4: VIENNA

After breakfast, arrive in the city of Vienna. This lovely city has Roman Ruins, and the beautiful St. Stephens Cathedral. Explore the city that created the waltz, enjoy classical music, art, and history in this elegant city. Vienna is also home of the famous Vienna Boys’ Choir. While you are there, you might decide to take a stroll to the Abbey of Saint Pierre. Later this evening, you will board your cruise ship for our overnight cruising. (B,L,D)

DAY 5: MELK

One of the most splendid examples of Baroque architecture in Europe, is the city of Melk, best known for the Benedictine Melk Abbey that dominates the city high above the Danube River. Admire the famous Melk Cross, the Abbey Library, and the sweeping views of the river valley. Your optional tour includes this most imposing architectural masterpiece north of the Alps and a focal point in the Monastery and the Collegiate Church. (B,L,D)

DAY 6: PASSAU

This picturesque city is ideally located at the confluence of the Inn, Ilz and Danube Rivers just a short distance from Germany’s border with Austria. Visit the wonderful Old Town and discover the impressive St. Stephen’s Cathedral with its lavish interior and one of the world’s largest pipe organs. The cathedral is the largest Baroque churches north of the Alps. (B,L,D)

DAY 7: NUREMBERG

The second largest city in Bavaria, Nuremberg, is a glowing testament to medieval culture. Explore the majestic Kaiserburg (Nuremburg Castle), once home to German kings and emperors. The castle and the system of walls and towers surrounding the town transport you back in time. Visit the 16th century Albrecht Durer House. This interesting museum highlights the life and work of former Nuremburg artist, Albrecht Durer. Visit the beautiful Schoner Brunnen fountain, the Gothic Catholic Church of Our Lady, built in 1352, the Renaissance Town Hall and the St. Sebald Church, built in 1225. (B,L,D)

DAY 8: BAMBERG

This morning, arrive in the very lovely city of Bamberg. Many consider Bamberg to be the most beautiful city in Germany. It offers Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque architecture, and some of Germany’s finest art. Bamberg dates back to 902 AD and today is home to a UNESCO World Heritage Site. (B,L,D)

DAY 9: MILTENBERG – WURZBURG – RHINE MAIN-DANUBE CANAL TRANSIT

Enjoy a leisurely walk through Miltenberg, a picturesque medieval German town. Delight in the many colorful half-timbered houses and the historic “Schatterloch” market square. Experience canal transit as we leave the Danube and begin our cruise down the Rhine. The ship will rise up 1332 feet during our transit. (B,L,D)

DAY 10: CASTLE GORGES – KOBLENZ

In the morning, rise to the dramatic scenery of the Castle Gorge Region. Added as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2002, this section of the Rhine is rich in historic castles, Roman history, fine wines and natural beauty. Enjoy the view of these historic castles from your cabin or the deck. While you’re in the city of Koblenz, be sure to see the fortress Ehrenbreitstein which offers a magnificent view of the city and is the meeting point of the Rhine and Moselle Rivers. Also, you’ll have the opportunity to visit the old city with the St. Castor church, a Roman Basilica and the oldest church in Koblenz, as well as the Roman-Catholic Church of Our Lady. Behind the church, is the 17th century town hall and the little statue called the schangelbrunnen, a boy who spouts water every three minutes at unsuspecting visitors. (B,L,D)

DAY 11: DUSSELDOF – USA

Today, we arrive in the city of Dusseldorf where we’ll disembark our cruise vessel. We will then be transferred to the airport for our return flight home. (B,In-flight meals)
